Considering the evolution of the situation regarding COVID-19, The International Research Seminar on Urbanism 2020 São Paulo/Lisbon, scheduled for June 15, 16 and 17, 2020 in São Paulo (Mackenzie Presbyterian University) and June 25 and 26, 2020 in Lisbon (Lisbon School of Architecture, University of Lisbon), has been postponed.
The event will take place in Lisbon on November 26/27, and in São Paulo on December 14/16, 2020.
Due to the perspective of uncertainty and unpredictability, the SIIU will include the participation of approved authors and audience members through two formats: In person and virtual participation in Lisbon and virtual participation in São Paulo.
Both modalities will entitle the authors to the certificate of participation and the publication of the works approved in the annals, as long as they register for the event within the deadlines set on the website.
We thank you for your patience and understanding. All of our actions are taken within the context of evolving global and local conditions.
The International Seminar on Urbanism SIIU was born in 2007 and was initially planned to offer students of UPC master's and doctoral programmes in Urbanism the possibility to discuss and enrich their work.
Gradually, SIIUs have opened up to researchers around the world. From the fifth edition on, held in 2013, every year in mid-June the SIIU is held jointly between the venue in Barcelona (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and a Latin American venue.
In 2020, the XII SIIU will be based in São Paulo (Mackenzie Presbyterian University) and Lisbon (Lisbon School Architecture of the University of Lisbon).
The joint organization of the event, with two venues, is under the responsibility of the Lisbon School Architecture of the University of Lisbon (FA_ULisboa), the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism - Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Mackenzie Presbyterian University – (PPGAU FAU-UPM) and the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism (POSURB-ARQ), of the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUC Campinas).
With each new edition, the seminar attracts the attention of a growing number of researchers from different international universities, encouraging the exchange of ideas to deepen the reflection about urban challenges. It keeps its vocation to create a reflection platform for sharing research from both sides of the Atlantic.
